Welcome to Pulilan, Bulacan — a charming town in Central Luzon where tradition, devotion, and culture blend beautifully. But don’t let its peaceful vibe fool you… this town throws one of the most unexpectedly epic festivals in the Philippines — complete with dancing carabaos!
Pulilan is a first-class municipality in the province of Bulacan, just a short drive from Metro Manila. It is mostly known for its deeply rooted agricultural heritage, vibrant local culture, and religious devotion. Life here moves at a chill pace — unless it’s May!
Pulilan is a town built on faith and farming. The locals are warm and deeply respectful of tradition. Catholic devotion is strong, especially toward San Isidro Labrador, the patron saint of farmers. Agriculture, especially rice and livestock farming, remains the heartbeat of the community.
Most residents speak Tagalog, but you’ll hear the sweet tone of Bulakenyo accents. English is widely understood, especially among the younger crowd.
Pulilan serves up some delicious local flavors!
The Pulilan Carabao Festival (every May) is legendary. In honor of San Isidro Labrador, these gentle giants are pampered, paraded, and taught to kneel in front of the church. It’s both amusing and awe-inspiring — a total must-see! Expect a week of street dancing, floats, and overflowing local delicacies.
Traditional kundiman and marching bands rule the festivals, but the younger generation also grooves to OPM and hip-hop. On fiesta nights, expect local DJs, karaoke battles, and bands playing till midnight.
